Vashti M. Murphy, 90, of Walton passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at home in Walton, surrounded by her family.

Vashti was born on April 28, 1922 in Pepacton, NY the daughter of the late Harley and Elizabeth (McAdams) Misner. She was one of fourteen children. She was born into and married to a family of hunters. On September 28, 1940 she married Albert J. "Hick" Murphy, sharing a blessed union of 72 years.

Vashti was a stay at home mom who loved taking care of her family. She enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens, canning, and watching the songbirds. She was a former member of the Shavertown Grange.

Vashti is survived by her loving family, her husband, Albert "Hick" Murphy, her sons, Eric "Zack" Murphy of Hopkinton, NH; Albert "Tim" and Ruth Murphy of Walton ; her grandchildren, Elizabeth and Barry Hull, Dan and Jennifer Murphy, Timothy (Jacqueline) Murphy, Zackory Murphy, her great grandchildren, Dylan and Kenzie, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter in law, Diane Murphy in 2003.

Friends and family are invited to call on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the New Hope Community Church, 45 Stockton Avenue, Walton from 5 to 8 PM and on Thursday morning, January 3, 2013 from 10 to 11 AM where services will be held at 11 AM with the Rev. Larry Light, officiating. Arrangements are with Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.
