Victor L. Hitt, 75 passed away Wednesday evening, August 16, 2006 in the United Methodist Home, Norwich, after a long illness.
Victor was born in Treadwell, on February 9, 1931 the son of the late William and Delephine Stoutenburg Hitt. Mr. Hitt married the former Doris L Gregory on March 8, 1952 in Walton.
He was a Truck Driver, first hauling milk and bag feed in Walton, and later drove for S.J. Bailey Co., and later for Queens Farms, Deposit for many years.
He is survived by his wife: Doris L Hitt, three daughters: Sharon and Dave Meres of Bainbridge, Cindy Bush of Walton, Holley and Jerry Pinney of Bainbridge, six sons: Victor L. and Marylynn Hitt of Scotia, William and Tanya Hitt of Walton, Daniel and Valerie Hitt, Ted and Cindy Hitt of all of Walton, Ken and Sandy Hitt of Conway, South Carolina, Harold and Carol Hitt of Maryland, 23 grandchildren, Chris, John, Macalah, Nick, Bill Jr., Chrystal, Joe, Chrystal, Shannon, Eric, Heather, Sarah, Tiffany, Vinny, Rachel, Cory, Amanda, Karen, Melissa, Dusty, Randy, Barbara, and Terri, 9 great grandchildren, three sisters: Delephine Jayes of Arkansas, Mary Lou Tomao, and Stacia Wood both of Walton, a daughter in law, Linda Hitt, Walton, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Hitt in 1971, and a brother, Mel Hitt.
A graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 11:00 am in the Walton Cemetery, Walton, under the direction of Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, Walton. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions in Victor's memory may be made to the United Methodist Home at Gilmour, 88 Calvary Drive, Norwich, NY 13815. The family would like to thank all the staff at Gilmour House for the wonderful care they gave to Victor.
