Richert

Mrs. Viola Agle Richert passed away on May 30, 2011 at her retirement home in Shinhopple, New York at the age of 94.
She was born in Eden, NY , April 14, 1917 to George and Stella (Hickman) Agle. On August 12, 1944 she married Alfred H. Richert on a furlough during World War II.
Mrs. Richert graduated from Hamburg High School and State Teachers college at Buffalo both summa cum laude. Her teaching career included Angelica, Hamburg Junior High, E. Aurora Junior High, and Smithtown Long Island before retiring with her husband to the catskills. Here they enjoyed their many hobbies, their church, and community activities.
Prominent in her profession and communities she served as President of Hamburg Teachers' Association, E. Aurora University Women's Club, and Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She also held various offices in Pioneer District Walther League, Garden Club of Smithtown, Long Island, Delaware County Senior Council, and Colchester Senior Citizens.
She is survived by her children, Anita (Louis) Cicero, Shelter Island Heights, and George Richert, Downsville, her grandchildren, Steven and Christopher, her sisters, Julia Hausladen, Helen (Walt) Ackerman, her sister in law, Erika Eckhardt and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Alfred, her sisters, Amelia Malte, Mildred Schacher, and her brother, Carlton Agle.
A memorial service will be held at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Delhi on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 11AM with Rev. John E. Priest officiating. Burial will be held in September at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, 3487 North Boston Road, Eden, New York.
