Obituary

Virginia S. Barnhart, 83, formerly of Northfield, passed away Friday May 6, 2005 in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, after a long illness.

Mrs. Barnhart was born in Apex, on October 3, 1921 the daughter of the late of Edwin and Florence Moore Spraque. She was a graduate of Hancock High School. She married Harry J. Barnhart in 1942. He died on March 7, 1977. She was a Clerk, employed by Stockton Ave. Market, Walton for many years. She loved to bowl and belonged to leagues in Walton and Bainbridge. She was a club mother of the Future Homemakers of America, 4-H leader, troop leader of a Girl Scout troop, a dance club organizer, avid gardener, and loved dogs and horses.

She is survived by her daughter Nancy Barnhart of Sidney, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Ernest and Harold Sprague, and 1 sister Ena Palmatier.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday May 9, 2005 at Walton Cemetery with the Rev. Peggy Fabrizio, officiating. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Barnhart's memory may be made to the Dialysis Unit, Bassett Healthcare, Oneonta.
