Virginia A. Matthews, 85, of Bainbridge passed away on Wednesday morning, August 16, 2023 at home after a long illness, surrounded by her family.

Virginia was born on September 4, 1937 in Manhattan, the daughter of George and Virginia (Augustine) Koch. On February 4, 1956 she married Robert C. Matthews. He died on June 6, 2022.

Virginia was an avid reader, very artistic, enjoyed sewing, and spending time with her family, and her animals.

Virginia is survived by her loving family, daughter, Marion (Dave) Kramer of Sidney, NY; sons, Kyle (ReAnn) Matthews of Casper, WY, Kirk (Korinna) Matthews of Sidney, NY; Brent Matthews of Bainbridge, NY; Dean (Kathy) Matthews of Jefferson, NY; Troy (Toni) Matthews of Bainbridge, Craig (Darcy) Matthews of Sidney, NY; grandchildren, Tina, Tommie, Dirk, Robin, Dwight, Chelsey, Devon, Kristy, Shelby, Shyann, Trinity, Connor, Troy, Tiffani, Joshua, Seth, Cameron, great granchildren, and great, great grandchildren, brother and sister in law, Thomas and Helen Koch, sister and brother in laws, Patricia and Thomas Wilson of NC; Georgia Bingman of Fl, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. The family is in the care of Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.
