Virginia G. Parsons, 91, of Walton passed away May 26, 2024, at Delhi Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Delhi NY. Virginia was a cherished member of the community, known for her warm smile, kind heart, and unwavering dedication to those around her.
Virginia was born on September 9, 1932, the daughter of the late Walter N. Gray and Earla M. Houghtaling in Bloomville, NY. Virginia graduated from Andes Central School, class of 1950. She married Robert Parsons July 20, 1952 and they traveled the U.S. and then wintered in Texas.
Virginia spent many joyful years working at the Walton pharmacy as a clerk, where she brightened the days of customers and colleagues alike with her friendly demeanor. A talented and creative individual, she found immense joy in crocheting, reading, and square dancing, embracing the beauty of simplicity and the rhythm of life. As she delighted in telling jokes and sharing laughter with friends and family. Alongside her loving husband and children, she created cherished memories through camping trips and adventures, instilling a sense of togetherness that will forever be remembered. She also sold Avon, drove school bus and traveled to Texas.
Virginia is survived by her loving family, her children, Diane (Tom) Marble of South Carolina, Jane (Mark) Ward of Walton, Susan Garry Cahill of Walton, and Patricia (Paul Jurjens) Parsons of Walton. Her Grandchildren; Robert, Ryan, Rebecca, Tricia, Dana, Amanda, Jake, Jason, Jeffrey, Greg, Erica, Brian, Jenna, and her step grandchildren; Jeff and Chris. Virginia is survived by 26 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Eleanor McKee of Delhi, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Virginia was predeceased by her husband Robert Parsons, her parents Walter and Earla, granddaughter, Christa, and her two sons; James R. Parsons, and Donald Parsons, her sister Lillian Barnhart, her sister in-law's Mary Parsons of Sidney Center and Marjorie Yarnes and brother in-law's Dick Yarnes of Walton, Douglas Parsons, Robert Barnhart, and Gilbert McKee,
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff and Doctor on Elm unit for their compassion and care at Delhi Rehab and Nursing Center, Delhi, NY.
A Graveside service will take place June 30, 2024, at 11AM at the Walton Cemetery.
