Obituary

Walter H. Lawson 88, of Hamden passed away Sunday, November 14, 2010 at Delaware Valley Hospital in Walton.

He was born January 21, 1922 in South Kortright the son of the late Walter and Mae Louise (Ambron) Lawson.

Walter married Sylvia Puffer on December 20, 1941 in Delancey, NY. She predeceased him on May 23, 2007.

He was employed by Delaware County as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He also was a night watchman at Del-Met. Walter owned and operated his own dairy farm in Walton.

Walter enjoyed hunting, gardening, wood working, and tinkering around the shop.

Walter is survived by his children; April Lawson of Walton; Betty (Chuck) Ashley, GA; Sylvia (Don) Gibson, Hamden; Linda (Tom) Glass, Hamden; Clayton (Tammy) Lawson, Otego; James (Ann) Lawson, East Brook; Dot Fournier Unadilla; Nancy (Ed) Walley, Delhi; Walter (Linda) Lawson, Delhi; 26 grand children, Billy, Neil, Josh, Barbara, Susan, Becky, Anna, Bradley, Dawn, Chrissy, Joey, Rachel, Kim, Clayton R., Philip, Shonna, Melisa, Ruth, Clayton W., Elizabeth, Sylvia, Amber, Andrew, Kaitlyn, Nathan, and Abigail, several great grandchildren and several great-great grand children; his sister, Delores Sanford, Grand Gorge; his brother and sister in laws, Richard (Jenny) Puffer; Steven (Joan) Puffer; Stella (Dave) Sprague, Lydia (Sonny) Serra and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 5 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton with the Rev. Dr. Lisa Ruth Mays officiating.
