Obituary

Walter T. "Tel" St. John Jr., 93, of Walton passed away early Thursday morning, October 8, 2015 at Fox Hospital Nursing Home, Oneonta.

Walter was born on March 7, 1922 in Walton, the son of the late Walter T. and Agnes (Franks) St. John. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army from 1940 to 1945.

On April 22, 1945 he married the former Dorothy Morenus at the First United Methodist Church in Walton.

Walter was a Machinist and Toolmaker at Amphenol in Sidney. He was a member of the American Legion, Truman C. Tobey Post # 32 in Walton. He loved to travel all over the country and has been to every state but never made it to Alaska.

Walter is survived by his wife: Dorothy, his daughter, Susan Franklin of Port Jefferson, LI; his brother in law, Frank and Barbara Morenus, his sisters in law, Jean Sanford and Joyce Terry of Sidney Center, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 2 PM on Sunday afternoon, October 11, 2015 at the Walton Cemetery, 55 Fancher Avenue, Walton with Rev. David Gatje, officiating. Arrangements are with Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.
