Waneta R. Gifford, 93 a long time resident of Walton, passed away Tuesday evening, September 23, 2008 in the Delaware Valley Hospital, Walton.

Waneta was born in Kingsley, Pennsylvnia, the daughter of the late Hendrick L. and Edna (Ferris) Adams on January 10, 1915. She moved to Walton with her family when she was in junior high school. She was a graduate of Walton High School where she enjoyed playing basketball. On April 25, 1937 she married Lawreence Gifford. He died in 1991. Waneta was employed by Bendix Corp as an inspector for many years. She also was a homemaker taking care of her family.

Waneta was a member of Pines Brook Baptist Church and the church's Ladies Aid Group. She also was a member of the Walton Election board for many years. She loved gardening, knitting, making socks and mittens for her kids and grandkids, watching golf, football, game shows and NASCAR on TV.

Waneta is survived by 5 children, Nancy (Lyle) Bennett, Sidney Center; Lawrence (Fali) Gifford Jr., Findlay, OH; Richard (Georgia) Gifford, Delhi; Jon (Camilla) Gifford, Lexington Park, MD; Deborah (Neil) Bartlett, Walton; 21 grandchildren, Duane, Shirley, Carolyn, Donald, Mark, Danny, Penny, David, Daniel, Stephanie, Susan, Joe, Lorelle, Nanette, Darlene, Keith, Jennifer, Neil, Nicolle, Shawn, 42 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Eunice (Roger) Deming, Sidney; Luceda (William) Tuff, Bellvue, Washington; sister in laws, Dottie Adams, Virginia, Freda Adams, Delhi; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by 2 daughters, Glenneth, and Patricia Ann, grandson, Ryan Hodges, brothers Giles and William Adams, and brother in law Cecil FitzGerald.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Thursday evening, September 25, 2008 from 6 to 8 PM at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton.

Funeral services will be held on Friday morning at 11:00 am at Pines Brook Baptist Church, with the Rev. Carl Butler, officiating. Burial will follow in Walton Cemetery.
