William H. Mills, 67, of Downsville passed away early Friday morning, October 29, 2010 at Delaware Valley Hospital.
Mr. Mills was born April 24, 1943 at the family home in Hamden, the son of the late Reginald and Isabelle (Knapp) Mills.
He proudly served his country in the Air Force from 1961 until 1965.
Bill was employed for several places over the years, He worked for the Family Foundation School in Hancock and was a supporter of all their functions. Bill also worked as a greens keeper for Tennanah Lake Golf Course in Roscoe, he was a custodian for Downsville Central School and also worked for the Town of Colchester at the Transfer Station.
He enjoyed Dancing and music, especially country and 50's music. Bill loved spending time with his family, he had a great sense of humor and was often playing practical jokes. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR, cheering for his favorite drivers, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, and Tony Stewart. Bill was very proud of his involvement in AA. He also loved chihuahua's.
Bill is survived by one son: Billy (Debbie) Mills of Coxsackie, NY; five sisters: Sandra Elmore, Roxanne (Mike Barnes) Mills, Terry Allen, Mickey (Pat) McClenon and Tracey Wilson all of Downsville; three brothers: Donald Mills, Gene (Judy) Mills, James (Goldie) Mills, all of Downsville; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Floyd "Reginald" Mills, Clark K "Cork" Mills, Thomas M. Mills, and a sister, Bridget M. Mills.
A memorial service will be held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Downsville on Wednesday morning, November 3, 2010 at 11 AM with the Rev. Michael Shank, and Rev. R. L. Donahue officiating. Burial will follow at Paige Cemetery, Downsville, with full military honors.
