William W. (Willie) Price, age 75, a lifelong resident of Walton, passed away Thursday, July 11 at home with his family and pets by his side after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 29, 1938 in Walton, NY to Charlotte M. Butler and Erwin M. Price. As a teenager he worked on farms and delivered milk for Frank Seely. After graduating from Walton Central in 1958, he went to work at Bendix Aviation in Sidney NY and worked there for 25 years. Thereafter he worked at Breakstone's in Walton in the maintenance department until he began his truck driving career. He traveled around the country working for several companies until he was hired to drive for S.J. Bailey and Sons, retiring in 2003. He served in the Army National Guard for thirteen years, achieving the rank of Staff Sargent. Willie was also a past member of the Kiwanis Club.
He married Sherri Russell on July 14, 1984 in Walton. He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 29 years and his daughters, Lisa (John) Moffett of Walton and Amy (Kevin) Mead of Perkasie, PA; his granddaughters Megan Rice, Amanda Moffett and Coryne Mead; great grandsons Lucas and Adam Rice; siblings Robert Price of Poughkeepsie, Louise (Richard) Brown of Walton, Don (Lucille) Price of Wappingers Falls; James Price of Walton and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He also leaves at home with his wife his beloved pets Bella, Princess, Frankie and Skittle. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Keith Price.
Willie was an avid sports fan but he especially loved the NY Yankees and the NY Giants. He appreciated good company (which included his pets), traveling and dancing to country music. His hobbies included collecting beer stein, snowmobiling, hunting, boating, bonfires, and watching TV classics.
Willie had a strong constitution and faced his last challenge with dignity and courage. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Contributions in his name can be made to the charity of your choice.
