Walton, William J. Voorhies, 87 of Walton passed away at home suddenly Thursday morning April 8, 2004.

Bill was born in Reads Creek on June 26 1916 the son of Alvin M. and Jennie M. Sloat Voorhies. On June 26 1937 he married the former Teresa Neer at Walton. He and his wife Teresa owned and operated the Voorhies Oil Co. He was also a member of Walton Lodge # 559 F&AM. Bill was a hard worker and a gentle man. He enjoyed gardening, mowing his lawn, and cutting wood. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife: Teresa N. Voorhies, one daughter: Linda and Bill Houston of Georgia; two sons: Jack A. and Gale Voorhies of Colorado; and Chris H. and Connie Voorhies of Walton; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; one sister: Stella Crosby of Cadosia; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased a brother Otto Voorhies, and a sister Ethel Erlandson.

Funeral Services will be held privately at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St Walton, at the convience of the family. Burial will be in the Walton Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
