William A. "Bill" Wood Sr. of Walton went to be with the Lord on July 24th, 2009 at the age of 73. Bill was born in Beerston on April 12, 1936 the son of the late Bernard O. and Alice Bowker Wood Sr. He was a graduate of Walton High School class of 1953. He worked at Scott Machine Development for 31 years, retiring in 2002. On August 12, 1956 he married the former Lucy Mills.

Bill loved the Lord, his family and fishing. He was a friend to all-waving at everyone as he drove through the streets of Walton. Bill loved to make people laugh.

Bill is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lucy, three sons, and one daughter: William "Willy" (Anne)Wood Jr., Trout Creek; Timothy C. (Cheryle) Wood, Deer Lodge, Montana; Thomas S. (Marian), Deer Lodge Montana; Wendy L. (Robert) Miller, Walton; seven grandsons, Josh, Justin, Levi, and Luke Wood, Ben and Nathan Obenauer Robert Miller; three granddaughters, Rachel Wood, Rebekah Obenauer and Jennifer (Matt) Wright; great-grandchildren, Shyah Lloyd, Kyle, Jillian, and Abigail Wright, and a sister-in-law, Charlotte Szczesh, Walton; and several nieces, nephews & cousins.

He was predeceased by a brother, Bernard O. Wood Jr., in 1989.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 from 6 to 8 PM at the New Hope Community Church, Stockton Ave, Walton, where services will be held on Wednesday morning at 11 AM with Brother Frank Guiliano, officiating.
